Buffet Receipt template overview

Use this Buffet Receipt template to build a clean, editable receipt record with the merchant, date, line items, tax, totals, and payment details already laid out for faster review.

Best for reimbursements, recordkeeping, and internal documentation once the original purchase details are confirmed.
Usually includes the merchant name, purchase date, itemized charges, subtotal, tax, total, and payment method.
Start with the template, then use the related guides below for lookup, reimbursement, or receipt-format questions.

What Is on a Real Buffet Receipt?

Buffet receipts look different from a typical itemized restaurant bill because the food itself usually isn't itemized - here is what actually appears on a real one.

Flat per-person price instead of itemized food

Because guests serve themselves, buffets charge a fixed price per diner rather than ringing up individual dishes - the receipt shows a quantity (party size) multiplied by a per-person rate, not a list of what was eaten.

A party-size or head-count line

The number of diners is printed as its own line (e.g. 'Adult x3, Child x1') since it directly drives the subtotal - this is the buffet equivalent of itemized line items on a regular menu receipt.

Tiered pricing by age group

Most buffets bill adults, seniors, and children at different flat rates, and some also charge a reduced rate for very young children or a small tray/to-go surcharge - each tier prints as a separate line with its own count and rate.

Drinks and alcohol billed separately from the buffet price

Sodas, specialty drinks, coffee, and alcohol are almost always outside the flat buffet price and appear as their own itemized lines, since they aren't included in the all-you-can-eat rate.

Tax and gratuity added after the per-person subtotal

Sales tax is calculated on the summed per-person charges plus any drinks, and large parties often get an automatic gratuity or service charge line - both appear after the buffet subtotal, same as a standard restaurant bill.

Time-based or meal-period pricing

Many buffets charge different flat rates for lunch versus dinner, or weekday versus weekend, so the receipt or menu board reference on the ticket often reflects which pricing window applied to the visit.

Get Your Original Buffet Receipt First

Most buffet restaurants can reprint a recent ticket if you give the manager the date, approximate time, and party size, since the transaction is logged by table and headcount in the POS. Card payments also appear on your bank statement with the restaurant name, date, and total charged. Use this template when the original is unavailable - a lost paper receipt, a cash payment, or a location that cannot pull up an old transaction.

Contact the restaurant with the visit date, approximate time, and party size - most POS systems log buffet transactions by table and headcount, making them easy to look up even without a receipt number. A card statement also confirms the restaurant name, date, and total if the paper copy is lost.

Yes - buffet receipts are expected to show per-person pricing rather than itemized dishes, since that is how the restaurant actually bills the meal. Most expense policies accept the party size, per-person rate, tax, and tip as sufficient documentation for a group meal claim.

Add the number of guests and the price per person - the generator calculates the subtotal, tax, and grand total automatically.

Add beverage items as separate line items with their individual prices. The total recalculates to include all charges.

Both. Individuals use it for personal dining reimbursements. Businesses use it for team lunches, corporate event catering, and group expense documentation.

This tool creates an editable buffet receipt layout for documentation and expense purposes. It is not a receipt issued by an actual restaurant's billing system.

A real buffet receipt shows the restaurant name and address, the party size broken out by pricing tier (adult, senior, child), the flat per-person rate for each tier, any drinks or alcohol billed separately, sales tax, an automatic gratuity line for larger parties, and the grand total.
