How do I get a receipt I lost?
Start with the merchant's account or app — most retailers keep digital purchase history. Next, search your email for the order confirmation. If neither works, customer service can often look up an in-store purchase using the card you paid with and the date.
Can a store look up a receipt for me?
Frequently, yes. Stores that tie purchases to a loyalty account (or that can search by payment card and date) can usually reprint or locate a receipt. Bring the same card you paid with and the approximate purchase date.
Where do digital receipts get stored?
Typically in your online account order history, the merchant's mobile app, a loyalty program (like Beauty Insider, Ultamate Rewards, or Pro Xtra), or your email confirmation. Rideshare, delivery, and travel receipts live in their respective apps.
What details should a recovered receipt show?
Merchant name and location, the purchase date, an itemized list, subtotal, tax, total, and the payment method. A plain card charge usually isn't enough on its own for returns, warranty, or reimbursement.
What if I can't recover the original receipt at all?
Use your verified figures from a bank or card statement and the order details you do have to recreate a clean receipt record. Always match the real amounts — never document a purchase you didn't make.
